The problem here is that, by default, Adobe is configured to open .pdf files it finds embedded in a web page. The .pdf display software has the security holes – so just by visiting a web page and doing nothing else, you could lose control of your computer (and this is not limited to just Windows – it also affects Macs and Linux , although less likely to be effective or targeted)
Just downloaded a “security” patch for Adobe, first thing this morning. Now I see. I’ve said it before, HARD TIME for all cyber criminals.
The Adobe reader has been hopelessly buggy for as long as I can remember (which is longer than I like to think about). I just installed the patch, and it wants me to reboot. This with Win7! That has been a no-no since XP! And it will probably still steal the mouse wheel from Firefox…
