A time of great peril

So I tune to Michael Savage for a few minutes, and he’s talking about the same topic I’ve been using the last week to alienate everyone who reads this blog…

He in the same sentence asserts that “The Country was founded based on the Bible” (the Old Testmanet – Savage is not a Christian and considers Christians to be ignorant sheep) AND the country is based on Aristotelian logic.

Those couldn’t be two more polar opposites – the God of the Old Testament is a fearsome, jealous God who will order your tribe to kill you if you stray from His law, and Aristotle is about logic, deduction, induction, inference, syllogism, the dialectic, metaphysics, etc….

It’s very clear to even the most basic analysis that the great minds who decided to break away from the King of England were followers of the latter.

One of my “aha!” moments as a teenager was reading Thomas Paine’s “The Age of Reason“.   You may recognize the name as the author of “Common Sense”, which many consider to be the writing that lit the fire of the Revolution and laid down the foundation of the Continental Congress.

Here are some passages from the Age of Reason which he wrote in the 1790s after the Revolution was completed.

Take away from Genesis the belief that Moses was the author, on which only the strange believe that it is the word of God has stood, and there remains nothing of Genesis but an anonymous book of stories, fables, and traditionary or invented absurdities, or of downright lies.

 and

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish Church, by the Roman Church, by the Greek Church, by the Turkish Church, by the Protestant Church, nor by any Church that I know of. My own mind is my own Church.

and

…but the Bible is such a book of lies and contradictions there is no knowing which part to believe or whether any…

Reading that and comparing it to what adults had been teaching me was like the day my second grade teacher informed us there was no Santa Claus.

Savage is not a stupid man. He tells his audience usually a couple times a day that they are ignorant people who need to be led around because of their inadequate education.

The followers of Islam are also not stupid. They know that this mosque issue – whether they actually want to build it or not – will open up a schism between the religious and the secular. It’s all about divide and conquer.
