So you want a piece of turf to call your own? You’re the expert on Public Radio stations in Minnesota? Gospel radio in Mississippi? You know every radio station in Michigan?
The Streaming radio station list now has the ID Show function for each station where there is no programming currently known. So you can now set the programs for the stations that you care about. You do have to listen to the stream while the program is on in order to Identify the show. Station Program schedules are often out of date, and Affiliate lists are close to worthless – so we only set “What’s on now” based on actual listening to the stream.
If you can’t find a specific program in the database, choose a generic show (like “country music” or “Religious”) – if enough people are listening to that specific show, eventually it will get a detailed show description added.
Simulcasts also now show up on that page with the programming on the flagship station.
You won’t be able to set the programming for stations in states that don’t follow Daylight Saving Time because the twice a year programming shifts are problematic and most syndicated shows are available on many other stations.
For now, you can’t create a “new” show in the database, although at some point that should become possible once I consider the security implications thoroughly.
You don’t need to be an official volunteer to make these kinds of changes.
Well that title got my attention!
Still learning my way around the new links, but because most programs this week are on a “holiday” schedule, I think I’ll wait until next week to list any changes that I find. The TRN stations should provide some challenges.
I just added a link to the “Streaming Schedule” for individual stations… so people who have a special interest in one specific station can add in the schedule. Note however that you can only add in a show while that show is currently streaming.
