The Michelle Effect

The other day, I bought some popcorn – a brand made by Conagra… I just popped the first bag and it was a WTF? moment. The popcorn had almost no salt. Looking at the box, it says 250 mg per serving… A brief search on the web suggests 1000+ is more typical. It isn’t a “low sodium” variety.

Thanks Mommy. Please pass the salt shaker.

Did it kinda taste like you were eating the bag?
Without trying to sound TOO snarky, and by employing a BAD analogy, MyBelle should spend more time worrying about her caboose than other people’s freight cars.
Art – do you think the media maybe subtily pointing out the irony of a First Lecturer who is constantly harping on food comsumption constantly being caught in photos scarfing down ice cream?
    Nay.
    Do they know subtle?

Interesting. One of my favorite fast meals is/was Maruchan ramen noodles, chicken flavor. About three months ago, I made some and immediately noticed that it seemed flat … almost flavorless. I thought I had forgotten to add the broth packet or something. Then, on the package there it was. In a little GREEN diagonal in the upper right-hand corner was the exciting news that Maruchan noodles was new and improved with low sodium and transfats … blabber, blabber, blabber. The food police had made their bust, it seems and saved our lives and fortunes. Mauruchan noodles tastes like wallpaper paste in chicken bullion now. To Protect and to Serve … only not ramen, please.

On the same shopping trip, I bought pretzels from a national brand that purports to be from Pennsylvania. Curiously, they also seem to have an amazing lack of salt.
