Allen Hunt gets new syndicator

If you don’t know who Allen Hunt is, you’re forgiven. He does a show weeknights from 9 PM to Midnight and on the weekends. It’s sort of an issue oriented talk show, but wrapped inside the “moral authority” of being a religious leader. He had been a Methodist minister and recently joined the Roman Catholic team.

He confuses some people, because there is a well manicured blind spot in America that Christian = Conservative. He’s about as Conservative as Michael Smerconish.

So who is his new syndicator? Unless TRN parts way with Rusty Humphries, that’s not likely. Premiere is a possibility – Jason Lewis ends the live shift – after 9 PM, the Coast to Coast reruns start. Radio America won’t be it – they are owned by a lobbying group organized to increase military spending. Westwood One / CBS has Jim Bohannon starting at 10 PM. I have heard no hints he is going anywhere.

If I was a betting man, my money would be on Salem Talk. Salem is already a quasi-religious network. Hugh Hewitt turns off the lights at 9PM, and the Salem stations generally roll out Savage or a daytime show they don’t carry live… But Salem doesn’t have much of a network beyond their own O&Os.
