Common Destiny

Greece’s bonds continue to fall in value – the rate to maturity on the benchmark 10 year bond is over 12.6%

But two of the other countries being propped up by the EU [Germany] are also moving weaker – Italy & Spain.

So what characteristic do Spain, Italy and Greece all share? Please write your answer in the form of a question.

    What is Socialism?

Well, that’s a good answer, but not the one I was looking for. There are other Socialist countries in Europe whose bonds are not losing value…

What is the difference between Common Destiny and Common Density?

Okay, there was the answer I had in mind, and there is the better answer.

What I was fishing for was geography all 3 countries have significant shorelines on North Side of the Mediterrean, the most likely arrival points for refugees.

The better answer is fertility rates – it needs to be 2.1 to maintain a viable country – stay below 1.8 for very long, and economic collapse is inevitable when the older population can’t be sustained by the younger generations:

    Greece: 1.33 (as of 2005)
    Italy: 1.32
    Spain. 1.35

But on the positive side, the women in Europe have been liberated!
