Danny Stiles was one of a kind. He owns an extensive collection of records from the early era of recording. He was a fixture on public radio in New York City, and also bought time on a radio station in New Jersey – as near as I could figure it, he was paying for the time out of his own pocket.
The only reason I’m aware of him is due to testing obscure radio stations. He wasn’t out for fame or making money – just keeping the music he loved alive. I hope his 200,000 record collection finds its way to some museum that can properly preserve it.
