Glenn Beck has at least 413 affiliates

That’s my conclusion after processing the entire list and researching every one – something I’m in a unique position to do.

You can play along here

As of now, this is the totals which you see on the page:

Current Count Summary
Confirmed Affiliate 187
On schedule, no stream 120
No Web Site 41
NOT an affiliate 31
Simulcast Affiliate 28
Needs testing 25
No Schedule 12
Total Affiliates 413

The bottom line of this dispute (another than both sides acting foolishly) is Premiere laid off much of its affiliate relations staff at Christmas 2010 – the list appearing on Beck’s site has not been maintained since then, which is why no new affiliates were being added, and Media Matters was “ticking” off their “victories”.   Premiere has now yanked that list from the GlennBeck.com web site.

Thanks for your research. You do seem to be in a better position than some to uncover this info, and you’re definitely not a biased source, like “Premiere Networks”, the source that “Business Insider” and “Mediaite” went to!

I do have some questions, though. What does “needs testing” mean? And how did you determine that that those without a website carry his show?

“Needs testing” means that the station website says they carry the show, and the station streams – meaning it is “knowable” without actually being an in-market listener. Most of that list are stations in Arizona, which I have not listed in the past due to the twice a year shuffle since Arizona does not follow DST.

As to those that have no web site or have a web site but no schedule, for now I’m giving them the presumption of doubt – based mostly on the very low error rate on those I can verify. I’ve considered calling the stations on the phone and ask them, but mostly have the list up so people can point out an error in their local area.

Most of the differences are because it is clear to me the list on GlennBeck.com stopped being maintained when Premiere laid off affiliate relations staff in December 2010. The only entry that looks really wrong is they have New London CT listed as hearing the show from Long Island NY (which would be possible) – except that for quite some time that station has been a music simulcast of WPLJ-FM in New York City.
