Buckley & Glenn Beck

Media Matters was a-twitter a week ago with the news that Glenn Beck has been dumped by Buckley (the small Connecticut owner who lucked into buying WOR for a fire sale)…

Buckley is one of the last holdouts in the country in News/Talk that still doesn’t stream its stations (other than WOR, and part time on KNZR out in California).   The former program director of WOR left to go work for Air America.    It knaws away at their soul that they have any Conservatives on the station, but they also like to make money.

The “four markets” are actually not.   It’s a four way simulcast.    WELI-AM in New Haven reaches Hartford and overlaps much of the coverage area.

Clear Channel owns WPOP-AM in Hartford – it’s currently carrying ESPN.    WTIC-AM is owned by CBS and could be another new home, although CBS is not fond of Beck.  WMRD-AM in Middletown would probably also jump at the chance to pick up Beck.

Remember the three generation rule?   Buckley is being run by the third generation.
