This is not the planet I was born on.
I’m not so sure. In the 20th century, there was tremendous bloodshed in Europe and a lot south of the border in Latin America. In our country, Martin Luther King Jr was stalked by the government, someone killed a President and his brother, a Senator.
What’s different?
Where to start – people throwing bottles and rocks at the police, or people demonstrating and inciting violence in the streets. My generation – we waited to the late 1960’s for such things.
I think I am fed up with most things these days.
Things were a lot worse in the late 1960s than a few rocks and bottles.

My point isn’t that it was worse then, so much as some things never change. Remember parents didn’t like Elvis Presley, or before him – Frank Sinatra.
Kyle Hunicke, however, is a stand-up guy.
Yeah, don’t forget the Rodney King incident, whose beating by white policemen led to some severe and deadly race riots in 1992.
I have a one way ticket for you back to Mars. RSVP!
I am so grateful that I don’t live in a place like this. A small country town is a wonderful place to live. I pray it never changes.
Small country towns are way better than big city living. sure, need to drive a little further for shopping, work and that sort of thing. Usually the worst thing you need to watch for are the meth heads that are always looking for their next fix.
In New Zealand there is a village called Hobbiton, near Rotorua. Neat place. During the 2007 trip my oldest son guided us from the north island all the way to Stewart Island, and Pegasus Inlet. He scouted out a bunch of places where they filmed scenes for the Hobbit trilogy for us to visit. Some were fantastic, others were a little hard to recognize as being in the films. Guess they did ton of work to the film to get the right affects.
Scoot-on-over to Vimeo and do a little searching for videos of “New Zealand hobbit”. There are several good ones to view.
