Charlotte “black church burning” update

About the time of the Charleston mass murder, fires at “black” churches became the topic of the day for national news and Barack Obama.

Someone in Charlotte apparently heard the message. Briar Creek Baptist Church had a fire. One of the education buildings was burned down. While it was clearly arson, the motive was quickly determined to probably not be a hate crime. One of the main reasons was the sanctuary was not the target. Also, there was no “message”. The church was built in a former white neighborhood and was a thriving church based on the extensive buildings. The church now has only about 100 members, and still has a few white members.

The BATF has said that they don’t have any idea of motive.

A little detail that several immigrant groups were sharing the campus, including one from Nepal.

When the SPLC says it probably wasn’t a hate crime, assume it was – but not done by white people.

Motive?

I could have sworn I wrote about this at the time. Anyone remember that? I’m wondering now if there is some flaw that allows posts to be deleted. Maybe I just wrote about it in emails or comments on news stories.

    Anyone remember reading this here?

I don’t remember reading it and I try and read everything, eventually…
