Air1, the Christian Rock companion to KLove has apparently realized you can’t trick teenagers into loving Jesus with fake rock music

The new playlist is described as Worship music, still targeting younger listeners but with songs where the lyrics matter

    710 WFNR Blacksburg /Christainsburg VA is off the air. Cumulost sold them and all the radio stations they had bought in SWVA, and proceded to run into the ground, to the Montecello radio group from, ‘Lefty-ville’ AKA Charlottesville, VA .
    They put Rush on the sports station and do sports after 3pm eastern. I bet that helps.
    With 710 off the air I get WOR NY down here, signal is pretty good but don’t gain anything, Dave ramsey and then George Noory, meh.
    So, I listen to John B Wells podcast some Lars Larson live.
    Speaking of John B Wells, I really like his Ark Midnight Live show on Saturday night for three hours. I think its better than his podcasts. It moves faster, and a usually two or three guest interviewed, but his monologue is great. He is a great substitute till ‘Spaceman’ gets back on the air. : )

      In northern Virginia, you can get WOR during the day if you have a good radio and no fluorescent lights or computers nearby to interfere.

      Re podcasts, most players allow you to increase the playback speed. I normally listen at 1.5x regular speed, sometimes even faster if the episode is a bit boring. It takes a few minutes to get used to the first time, but after awhile, you will not even realize you are playing it fast and it can turn the most boring podcast into an interesting one.

      New rumor – Spaceman tried to take AOC’s train to from Toronto to Hawaii. 😉

        Yeah my wife listens to the podcasts at 1.5x regular speed also CC. I came into the house one day and she had it on a speaker, I swear it was Alvin the chipmunk. She says the same thing, ‘you get use to it’.

    Just now watching “Tucker Carlson Tonight” (which also streams audio on Fox Talk Radio) and heard Tucker introduce Mr Rio Conner (aka Larry O’Connor). Larry has been a fixture on WMAL for some time and has been one of my favorite alternatives to Sean Hannity from 3-6 PM ET.

    Tucker mentioned that he was a talk show host in the nation’s capital and in Los Angeles. Later the video mentioned KABC. I did a check and found him on from 10A – 12Noon PT (1-3 ET – immediately prior to his 3-6 ET WMAL show) http://www.kabc.com/on-air/

    Not sure when this started but suspect it is recent.

      Well, your innocent message sent me down Alice’s rabbit hole. I pulled up KABC in my database and it came back “Station not found”. Fearing another horrible mess where 1000s of stations vanish, I backtracked and it turns out the FCC says KABC has no license – only a construction permit. You may remember Cumulus is selling the land and moving their signal to another tower similar to WMAL. So for the time being, KABC-AM doesn’t exist

    Larson does six hours a day – 3 hours regionally syndicated in the Pacific Northwest, then three hours in national syndication. The ban was for calling an anti-police activist a snowflake.

      Insane.

      I am a proponent of hate speech. Protecting it from government oppression was one of the true strokes of genius in our Constitution. Letting people vent and express their emotions and opinions is a pressure relief valve that prevents shooting in the streets blowing up people you don’t agree with.

      Doing it on social media is better still – if you express a crazy idea, people will call you crazy and you may reconsider.

      Of course, there is no room for threatening people or harming them because they disagree with you.

      Dan Ackroyd on SNL was right when he spoofed CBS’ 60 Minutes by regularly saying, “Jane, you ignorant slut” back in the 1970s lol Name calling is not good, but people are taking some of this stuff a little bit too seriously.

    I hate that WMAL went ‘Bat Guano’. The stream for Chris Plante was ‘normal’ , the programming for the actual transmit signal over the air, is actually on the internet stream also. Well someone at their station must have come up with the idea, people out in the hinterland that listen to the stream don’t buy from our local customers & their commercials. People streaming don’t care about traffic reports or ”news reports at the bottom of the hour’. So they put on four stupid commercials that loop on the internet stream, during the commercial breaks on air. We miss Chris’s lead back into his monologues and bumper music, now its: “Phonix university sign up for a worthless degree in social something; Nutro-AgeLess -Male-Max/ manhood MAX, stick it in anything ! Then, PSA ‘You are the ‘GOAT’. ‘A Place for Mom’ senior care’.
    Where do they come up with this guano ? Its enough to make you switch stations.
    You know I have done that, Moved many times from stations with just PSA’s on the stream.
    If I win lotto, I am going to buy a radio station for the fun of it. ‘Parrott Fever’ : )
    Build that dam wall. China did, with Matt Damon. Israel built a wall, East Germany had one. Game of Thrones has a great wall ! That’s what we need. Winter is coming.

      Getting the ~$75 million for the land under the former WMAL tower puts everything in perspective. No number of Kars4Kids PSAs would ever generate that kind of Kash.

      I am looking for a replacement for WMAL on my preset buttons…. they recently added a pre-roll commercial to the stream and like to change streams very often. I am checking out WIQO and others that stream Plante, but I have become addicted to the prior show, “Mornings on the Mall” because they have great guests and the male co-host was from The Daily Caller that Tucker Carlson co-founded.

      Need an alternative to “Color, Color It” at 6 AM 😉

        Walton and Johnson on KPRC can be interesting. It doesn’t take life too seriously. It is carried on other stations, mostly in Texas

          I listened yesterday and today and it is a nice change of pace. It also continues past 9 AM to 10 AM ET when I can switch to Mark Simone on WOR for his 10 AM show without having to hear Beck or one of Plante’s substitute hosts.

          I left one radio streaming KPRC all day yesterday and work up early this morning to “The Pursuit of Happiness” on KPRC. It looks like it starts at 3 AM CT and is the run up to the Walton and Johnson. I only heard it for a few minutes but really liked it a lot. The website says, “Ken Webster Jr is the host of Pursuit of Happiness Radio, a daily 2-hour broadcast that features news, commentary and satire for libertarians, small government advocates and conservatives. ” It appears to be available on iHeart “podcast” (streaming on demand) via https://www.iheart.com/podcast/53-pursuit-of-happiness-radio-27210319/ for people that don’t want to be awake at 3 AM CT. 😉

        If you like a one man show, WCHV Charlottesville.VA. The only somewhat conservative voice in Charlottesville-stan. It won’t play on VLC, but it doesn’t have a ad or anything when you start it up. he’s pretty good, then they roll into Beck at 9am.

        I like mornings on the mall Mary & Vince ( Kevin). They aren’t to bad.
        They had traffic, weather and news reports timing messed up on the WMAL stream last week, trying to block their local ads on the stream. Its better this week, sort of like they dropped that idea, but the ‘pre-roll’ ad at startup that ‘CC’ describes is new yesterday and today.
        I’d like to tell them, ( WMAL) you can only make it worse!
        KNZZ, Grand Junction. They use to have Bill Bennett and then Beck at 9 eastern. I think they may have Hugh Hewlett, I can’t remember, but it will play on VLC.
        WEBY has Dennis Preger at noon, Remember that ‘Chairman’ for your wife. In case you need a backup. They will play on VLC, Clark Howard is on after Dennis at 3pm.

    CC et al. I found on the algore information super highway that the ‘Spaceman’ ( Gary Bell) died in 2018. Back in June. I saw on that ‘The Southern Ontario/WNY Radio-TV Forum” . Said he was 69 and died of cancer, so I poked around and saw discussion on ‘f-book’ pages also. I listened to some the CFMJ saved podcast back in June and the current hosts acknowledged it also. Survived by a wife and two kids.
    No one will say where he was buried, He had a lot of shows. some pretty good.
    It was a month after Art Bell. I listen to John B Wells now on Saturday nights. I like the ‘Ark Midnight’ on Saturdays better than the weekly podcasts. Saturday is live.
    He’s pretty close, to ‘Spaceman’ not really.
    what can you do, death is a part of life.
    Maybe you already knew CC, The discussion on the Spaceman ‘f-book page, Corus lost a lot of money last year.

      The comments on that page about radio.com was hilarious. Sounds like its crap. Too bad the 50k watt stations can’t carry good stuff anymore at night. You could avoid all this BS on the streaming services. Chaos again.

    well I have an idea /guess what the topic will be for the chris plante show today will be. The Democrats have some new representatives elected to the house. Palestinian-american Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) 15th district, called on her colleagues to begin taking steps towards impeaching President Trump.

    some of the newly elected representatives are making old Minnesota senator AL Franken look somewhat ‘normal’.
    I kinda doubt the Ms. Tlaib understands that impeachment by the house does not include ‘ a moving company’ relocating the Trump family out of the White House.

    we’re falling fast. Virginia is being run by NOVA nowadays. I wonder about the future, for my nieces.

    I noticed a change yesterday- Chris Plante was no longer on WABC. Checked again today and it was Brian Kilmeade welcoming his new New York City affiliate, WABC.

    I did a quick check in the final hour of stations that have been known to carry all three hours live and they were all streaming Chris Plante: WGOW, WXLM, WIQO and of course his flagship and home of his podcasts, WMAL.

    The frenetic energy Mancow has landed again in Chicago at WLS-AM. He will be doing morning drive (6-9 AM), however I don’t think many WLS listeners are young enough to be commuting to work anymore.
