Other current news about Cyprus includes that Cyprus is enjoying a boom in tourists from Russia, Turkey is assisting the Islamic banks in Northern Cyprus, and Cyprus is holding a logo contest for when Cyprus has its turn next year presiding over the EU Congress.
Cyprus.. another potential hot spot to watch. Turkey is in a much better position to grab the whole island than Greece. If China/Russia can be convinced to side with Turkey in the longstanding dispute over the island, then Greek Cypriots better be checking their boats for leaks, or at least looking for good flotation devices.
Maybe Greece can sell their half of the island to pay off some debts? 🙂
I think I read last time they had a debt crisis, they did just that (sell off some islands to rich people). Cyprus they might try to keep around if they can.
