Is Pakistan preparing for war with the United States?

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) seems to think so.

Eventually the United States will realize which country was really behind 9/11 and why…

Well, since he apparently visited Pakistan when he was in college with his roommates, he probably will prevent a “Stupid War” with Pakistan.

Barack Obama did say during the campaign he would drop bombs on Pakistan if he found out Osama Bin Laden was inside Pakistan – it’s almost like he knew that at the time he said it. It’s one of the few campaign promises he kept.

How about that Free Trade deal? Someone should ask the Occupy Wall Street people what they think of Barack Obama pushing through the 3 free trade deals that were evil when it was George Bush doing it..

The age-old strategic question for Pakistan is that if they incite war with the U.S. (or anyone else), who will India ally with? For sure it won’t be Pakistan.

Pakistan has a powerful ally (or is that taskmaster?) in China. There are at least 3000 Chinese troops currently in Kashmir…

The article describes that the Pakistan economy is so pathetic that it is only US military aid that allows the government to have any money to run the rest of the government. People with educations and potential to earn an income have long ago fled the country – one of the smarter guys I’ve worked with doing computer projects was a man from Northern Pakistan – I didn’t ask lots of questions, but I believe from his self-description he probably was ethnically Pashtun. He was a Muslim, but didn’t dress oddly and didn’t feel a need to display his religion overtly. (this was in 1991)

China is working hard to get access to natural gas from Central Asia without having to rely on Russia. Kashmir is virtually an impossible place to fight a war due to the altitude and cold. A political settlement is in everyone’s best interest, but not very likely.

Scary indeed….I’m gonna have to get by Risk game out from the closet and start wargaming this 🙂
