Delayed by Hurricane Irene, the statue of Martin Luther King Jr was dedicated today. The highlight was President Obama channeling Dr King and declaring that Dr King would have supported Occupy Wall Street.
The most interesting picture on that site is #12 – the only picture giving a shot of the entire crowd of 100s of people. If you look closely, most of them are wearing white golf hats. The original dedication in August expected a crowd of 250,000 people. Most of the population of DC is within an easy subway ride to get downtown if they really cared.
I can’t find a closeup shot in any of the video or pictures to indicate what (if anything) those hats say.
Al Sharpton was in town yesterday for his own rally – the fuzzy pictures look like they may be hats for the National Action Network
The statue was carved by a man from China which has created tension within the black community. They don’t like the idea that a non-black man made the statue to the man who taught us to look beyond skin color. Others object that the statue is made of white granite, making Dr King look like a white man.

There is a better crowd picture and even a picture of one woman carrying one American Flag.
The hats appear to be an event hat for the dedication.
Nice to see the other side still has the ignoramus population cornered. It’s not “a needle’s eye,” but “The Needle’s Eye,” referring to a narrow gate in the wall of Jerusalem that allowed ingress and egress of people but not pack animals during night hours when the major gates were closed. The sign, proudly bobbled about by a duly self-appointed dullard, was probably cobbled together by Blacks-R-Us or some similar professional race pimping organization. And for what it’s worth, I think that it’s harder for a libtard not to slander AND race bait than it is to, ah … stretch a mosquito’s ass over a rain barrel. Ignorance is bliss.
You have to admire the person for hanging onto that stencil set for 50 years and not just using a Mac and a printer to print the sign.
