The AP has a troubling story today about problems at the North Dakota ICBM bases. What is troubling is the lack of detail about what the problems are.

If you start reading from the end, you’ll find the motivation behind the story – the narrative is scripted by a “scholar” from Princeton (and you Glenn Beck fans know what that means) pushing for a global end to nuclear weapons.
So what has the nuclear weapons officers so unable to do their jobs? Muslims in their group? Women? Gays? They don’t trust their commander in chief? Sequestration? Working with 40 year old equipment? Worried about an invasion of Canadians flooding over the North Dakota border?
Sounds like our nuclear defenses have become ‘more flexible’
The doctrine of mutually assured destruction is a “living” document, just like the Constitution.
I thought mutual ended around the time that Larry King left radio. 😉
Bee deep.
The scripts were too young to have seen Tom Cruise in Top Gun and some recruiter got them thinking that the Air Force career fast track was subterranean.
Does the Air Force run that network of secret tunnels that interconnect all our major cities?… The ones that Alex Jones sees in his dreams?
No, no, no. You are thinking of Mayor Bloomberg. So far he has connected New York with Jersey City, Secaucus, Brooklyn, and Queens.
But those aren’t secret tunnels
The people on Long Island are really looking forward to being able to ride the LIRR into Grand Central station, and the opening of the 2nd Avenue subway is just around the corner and the extension of the #7 subway to the west side.
Of course, the evil (semi) Republican Governor of New Jersey did stop one of the tunnels under the border
I am no fan of Gov Christie for fighting against medical marijuana and spending millions of tax money to protect multimillion dollar investoments that were built too close to the ocean…
Having said that, the govenor was right to oppose the terms and conditions on that tunnel. It was to be paid for almost entirely by NJ taxpayers, rather than the users. It was to connect two states and there was almost no contribution from the other state.
