I almost put this in the comment about the IMF maid being from Guinea – that the West African country has one of the highest HIV rates in the world.
It turns out the maid is living in a building exclusively for people with HIV. (Isn’t it nice we have immigrants coming here to get HIV medical care?)
Now the chances are extremely remote that Mr IMF guy caught HIV from the maid as female to male transmission via sex is rare – but it adds yet another wrinkle to the this story that nobody would believe it it was a novel.
