Allegedly, as an alternative, it is popular among the young folks in South Florida to create a mix called “purple drank”, which is promoted by rap artists – it consists of a fruity drink, a fruit flavored candy, and cough syrup with codeine and promethazine (hard to get since it requires a prescription)
Trayvon did not have “iced tea” as he walked through the hole in the fence of the gated community – the can he had was Arizona brand Watermelon Fruit Cocktail, the fruity beverage of choice, skittles the fruity candy of choice. The over the counter Robotussin DM, which contains DXM is an alternative. Back about 15 years ago, I used to spend time in a chat room – after a few months, the younger folks started talking about taking trips using overdoses of DXM – it’s very easy to die from.
