Extracted from a news article, “Back on July 18, 2013 a witness who was expected to testify against Boston mobster Whitey Bulger was found dead on a road in Lincoln, Mass. Probably just coincidence. Police initially called the death of Stephen “Stippo” Rakes a suicide. State prosecutors said they believed the death of a witness in the Bulger trial last month was unrelated to the case. They said the man had apparently been poisoned by a business associate who “acted alone.”

“Whitey” was initially charged with almost a dozen murders dating back to the 70’s and 80′.He plead ‘Not Guily’ to those charges, though his lawyers have admitted he was involved in extortion, drug smuggling and loan sharking. Sounds like a typical Liberal. So why go to court and the expense of a trial?

“Bulger was listed as an FBI informant for years while running the Winter Hill Gang and claimed to have struck a deal with a now-deceased assistant U.S. attorney protecting him from prosecution.”
He was tipped-off by an FBI agent, who was in good standing with the agency of an imminent arrest and “Whitey” fled the area in 1994. He was finally captured in 2011 in Santa Monica, California, where he had been living with his girlfriend in an apartment with stacks of cash and weapons.”

Yeah, this has all the hallmarks of coincidence.

Howie Carr has written three books about Whitey Bulger and his associates. While I haven’t yet read “Hitman”, the other two “The Brothers Bulger” and “Rifleman” are good reading, but if they were made into Hollywood films, no one would believe it.
Between Bulger and Flemmi (Rifleman) the pair has almost 40 murders to their credit, but Howie managed to capture an almost humorous side to the crimes. “I didn’t want to do it, but I had to” was the theme of most of the “hits”.
