I don’t know the future, but when I lived in southern GA, guns were everywhere. The teenager in the Mustang and the 80 year old woman in the Cadillac both had handguns in the car and on their person. There was not much crime in that town at all. The only place you didn’t see handguns was in a bank. Only knives worn on a belt were allowed.
Making a legal issue out of what already is true seems an odd thing, but then politicians do things for attention sometimes.
Exactly my suspicion – it seems to be asserting jurisdiction giving “permission” where there is no existing prohibition.
