I was searching for a 10 watt zombie in South Chicago named WSSD-FM on South Halsted Street when I spotted this huge empty parking lot. Such things just don’t exist in Chicago
WSSD-FM is an odd zombie. It’s a 10 watt FM station on 88.1. Unless the FCC records are wrong, it was licensed in 1939, which was back befor FM was little more than experimental. The antenna location, studio location and mailing address all make little sense. The station existed until recently playing the Blues, but went silent last year.
