One or two of you probably still follow Rush Limbaugh. Apparently, he talked a bit about this the past few days. In addition to the possible WLS story, there was another story I didn’t read about the Obama Purple Shirts now targeting the staff who work for Rush for punishment. Is that breaking glass I hear in the distance?
In the past, I would have taken this message as bait being lobbed out for Dailykos to bite and take the hook, or maybe a ploy to rally his fans “Rush, we still love you!”…
But this has a different feel – especially the part about “seeing the world the same way everybody does”. I don’t think Rush ever thought everybody sees the world as he does. This has the feel of someone else’s words – someone at Premiere, maybe his wife, maybe a close relative or friend. It has the feel of “Rush, it’s time to get off the stage”.
Maybe that home in Costa Rica is suggesting the time has come.
There is still no heir apparent if he hangs up the Golden EIB microphone.
A little item I held back until now. After a year of being on at least 100 affiliates, the CBS Sports radio network nationwide has 4,542 Facebook Likes – that’s it. Fox Sports which heavily promotes social media has 15,000 after being on national syndication for 15 years. Sports talk is not a viable format for national radio. The only thing it does is keeps the transmitter silence alarm from going off and keeping the FCC license alive until the station gets gifted to a religious charity.
