Then, Carson was partially correct in what he said!
I think he would have been closer if he said that there were large grain storage buildings near the pyramids. Whether Joseph was involved in any of that probably is not the case. Religion and mythology and politics get wound up together. Ask Louis Farrakhan and – he thinks his ancestors – the Nubians – built the pyramids. People largely try to organize things to fit the narrative they want to believe.
People also think of the pointy things when they hear the term pyramid. There are many burial structures that were flat.
