Did anyone blog about this at the time?
http://www.eutimes.net/2010/05/us-orders-blackout-over-north-korean-torpedoing-of-gulf-of-mexico-oil-rig/
I read several news articles in many foreign newspapers a few days after the incident and one Russian blog site.
I certainly didn’t. It didn’t begin to pass the “sniff” test.
– is the EU Times an internet only web site? YES
– does the publication say who owns them, list a business address, identities of the people who run the company? NO
The domain is registered with TuCows up in Canada as an anonymously owned domain
The domain is on an inexpensive web hosting company (dreamhost) shared with 29 other domains. It’s not clear from the traceroute if it is located in Los Angeles or Berlin (Germany, presumably). In the United States, my guess is I’m looking at a mirror site. There isn’t even an email address on the site.
– does it quote any verifiable sources? NO
(a “report circulating around the Kremlin” is not a reliable source)
– Does it make sense?
There is tons of evidence about what the actual cause of the explosion was
– Who is the author and what has he/she written previously? Is an editor fact checking their work? NO
no byline, no attribution
This just reeks of being a Russian propoganda disinformation web site. What their motive is in floating this story isn’t clear.
To be fair, WHOIS privacy is not indicative of much more than a desire to avoid email harvesting, phishing, and spam.
Privacy & shared hosting aside, it’s quite evident upon entering the website most of the site ‘design’ is geared towards click-thrus, Google Ads, and other traffic-siphoning strategies.
The all red menu doesn’t help convince me either. 😉
Is Obama capable of such chicanery? Yes, but it’s not his ‘call’.
They’re also begging for money using paypal, which means they don’t have a merchant account for credit cards. No phone number, no physical address, no email address, no names of real people…
… and using pop-up & pop-under windows.
