The government of Venezuela is sending in National Guard troops to try to regain control of its large prison complex after gun battles erupted between rival prison gangs. Perhaps as many as 30 people are dead, including evangelical clerics who sought to mediate the dispute.
It would be interesting to find out the motivations of the various factions. It seems logical that some of the people in prison are anti-Chavez political prisoners.
