Once my contract was up in Chicago, I had to decide if I would stay there or move somewhere else. As my apartment lease was running out, I looked at staying in the Chicago area, but not inside the city.
Down in the post about country music, I alluded to almost buying a condo. For 98% of normal people, this is a horrible condo building. It is right next to an extremely busy rail line in Franklin Village – what runs by are two tracks mostly used by commuter rail, and two main lines owned by Canadian Pacific. If it wasn’t for the shrubs, you could see the Eastern end of the Bensenville rail yard
You can hear the announcement from the station across the tracks. Most people would not want train horns blaring every 10 minutes at 2 am just outside their window. If I had stayed, it would be a relatively easy commute to downtown Chicago.
