Super Tuesday summary

The bottom line is there were no big surprises compared to the polls. The delegate counts are shifting very little – these states are proportional, so a few percentage points makes very little change.

March 15th is the beginning of Winner Take All, which is where a very minor vote difference could make a huge delegate count swing – Indiana, Nebraska and Missouri don’t have polls yet. California is the only Winner Take All state where Trump doesn’t have a huge lead.

Colorado did not hold a Republican primary and will not. The party will choose their delegates and all will be free to vote for whom they choose.

Perhaps Republicans should just do this in every state

Wow. I guess if that is a new trend, we might as well stop pretending that we have free and fair elections. With the level of apathy in our country now I don’t think too many people (especially the 35 and under crowd) would even care. They would rather just make all decisions based on social media mob based stupidity. The parties could let the 55+ crowd keep ‘voting’, but ignore whatever their choices are and just announce the winners.

Yet another example why I have refused to “belong” to any party for years now. The whole thing is becoming such a farce.

“Its not who votes that counts, but who counts the vote” (source unknown but usually wrongly attributed to “Uncle Joe” Stalin).

        > The whole thing is becoming such a farce.

I’ve thought long and hard about that for many years and concluded the opposite. The farce level hasn’t changed, it is just that as we mature we are more aware of it than when younger.

  2. Fred Stiening says:

Pennsylvania is another trouble spot – only 17 delegates are “winner take all”. 54 go as unpledged. They could be the difference of Trump not getting 50% on the first ballot

  3. JayMar says:

With the “pledged” and “super” delegates it is no wonder the turnouts are at the lowest point in our political system. What is the point of caucuses and primaries if the fix is on from the beginning? I don’t think our country can recover from this debacle. We are beyond the point of no return. As I have said in previous posts I am happy that old age doesn’t last long. I am witnessing the decline but will never see the fall.

  4. JayMar says:

I don’t know why today I decided to listen to Glenn Beck. I haven’t in a few years, when he became preachy. But, today he suggested something quite interesting. Cruz asking Rubio to opt out in favor of the Vice-Presidency. Mike Lee as the SCOTUS replacement for Nino Scalia, Carson to run for Rubio’s seat in FL, and Rand Paul as Sec of Treasury. Wow this would really strengthen the GOP and make it unbeatable. Rubio can then run for Pres in 2024. That way Trump wouldn’t stand a chance. Sounds crazy but…I like it.

    • Fred Stiening says:

What happens to the 35% of Republicans who have been voting for Trump? Will they just go with the plan?

(Of course half of them are Hillary supporters trying to drive the Republican Party off the cliff!)

  5. foyle says:

“Make America Great Again” is very specific unlike “Hope and Change” which means anything you want it to. — quoting Rush Limbaugh from his show 3/2/16.

Yeah, sure, whatever you say Rush. Are there still millions of “ditto heads” that robotically follow this man’s every word?

It took a mere 5 minutes of listening to Rush in the car today to remind me why I have not listened to him for many years.

    • Fred Stiening says:

I guess that depends on what the word “great” means!

It’s not a secret I can’t stand any of them. John Batchelor I listen to some, but you go in knowing he is a Teddy Roosevelt Progressive Republican – but he has an incredible knowledge of history and can put context around things like Ukraine, the Ottoman Empire, Vlad Putin, etc…

I put a high premium on people who “know stuff” without having to search Wikipedia. Knowing context allows you to know the right question to ask.

For those with limited sight or who are illiterate I recommend the “Great American” (is that trademarked?) — Bill Cunningham. Every Sunday night he reads the Drudge Report for 3 hours so you don’t have to.

I agree with you about Batchelor, I have different perspectives from him, but at least he IS knowledgeable and covers worthwhile topics with interesting guests.

I agree Foyle, Rush is in the tank for the establishment or something like that, so annoying.
The establishment wants is to continue the free trade slave wages global economic policies that have destroyed the U.S.
I Have looks at pics of taken by the google car of Cotton mills and Furniture plants, textile, automobile plants all torn down and just flat concrete pads.
some towns depended on those factories.
International corporations are not American and owe no allegiance to American workers or society. Its obvious, cause Haire is probably going to close Appliance park in Louisville KY, now that they bought it from GE.
Remember when you vote establishment either Dem or REPUB, thank them for 56000 factories have closed since Pelosi became Speaker of the House 10 years ago.
Nancy or boehner or Boehner lite doesn’t matter. all look alike,

Cannon Mills in Kannapolis is a local example. It used to be a major employer – they made towels mostly. A guy from Australia bought the company and shut it down.

The City of Kannapolis is very proud of having “saved” part of the complex and turned it into an expansive office complex for city workers.

Meanwhile, up in Salisbury the county commission is focused on an expensive court fight over starting their meetings by asking attendees to stand while they pray.

        • Parrott says:

Yeah Art, I found an old towel here that the cat sleeps on, that has the Cannon logo. I need to wash it and save it.
Fieldcrest is another mill that is gone, they were in Collinsville VA.
‘That giant sucking sound you hear is all the jobs going to Mexico’ ,,Ross Perot.
If you get a chance to listen, today and tomorrow, WMAL is at CPAC live the morning show guys and Chris Plante and his bumper music will be there live.
          best regards

Oh and while you are listening to Romney throwing ‘poo’ and seeing what may stick,
watch this nice video before . Think of credibility.

Romney is making a total idiot of himself, with Bloomberg picking up the hype.

If the Republican are stupid enough to push Romney at us a second time, they deserve the shitstorm they are going to get.
