Dr Drew Pinsky is putting down the penis pump, at least the syndicated one. According to Tom Taylor, he has been doing the show for Westwood One for free for several years.
A few months ago, he started up a local show on KABC-AM in Los Angeles from noon to 3 PM. Do parents want to have their children hearing about clitoris problems and herpes infections on the ride home from school?
It sounds like he intends to go the podcast route, although that can be tricky having a callin show distributed only by podcast.
The person formerly known as prince is dead at age 57 – yet another healthy person I’ve outlived. Reports are that six days ago, his plane made an emergency landing after what is believed to have been an opiate overdose. The hospital wanted him to stay for 24 hours, but he insisted he needed a private room, which the hospital doesn’t have. Welcome to equality. He was found dead in an elevator in his home.
Somewhat of an icon – not a full rock star (not from my generation) – Prince was a decent man who enjoyed entertaining folks and had a real niche blending a number of music types. He epitomized the 80’s and he has impacted a huge number of fans around the world. May he rest in peace.
He was innovative. His early 80s hit about partying like it was 1999 had a major comeback in 1999…. and each time the financial media starts talking about the market being overvalued they seem to play that song to remind folks of the dot com crazy of 1999.
Tieing the two thoughts together, that song came out back when Dr Ruth Westheimer was all the rage. 😉
Why did Dr. Drew do Lovelines for free? Actually, I didn’t think that show existed anymore. My local market doesn’t carry it anymore, and Drew already has his daily CNN show. I used to listen when Adam Carolla co-hosted. That really was a great show back then. Adam and Drew had great chemistry.
By the way, news came out that former wrestling star and “Celebrity Rehab” patient Chyna had died. Apparently, she died about 2 days before her friend went to check on her 🙁 That was the top story until Prince’s death came out 2 hours later and overshadowed everything.
For those keeping score. That’s a half dozen Celebrity Rehab cast members deceased. No wonder Drew ended that show. He was taking a lot of heat, most of it unfairly.
Sorry about the broken plugin… Grrrrr….
Why do I do this for free? Mental illness probably.
I still had the show on two tiny stations

but to be honest, I do very little testing any more, especially at 1 am when nobody listens.
Westwood One has been in flux since the Cumulus takeover
I don’t know why either, but I’m glad you do! 🙂
This would be one of the few sites I’d pay for.
