Long time New York City sports talker Warner Wolf and Don Imus have parted ways. Wolf says you need to ask Imus to find out why. The contract ran out in a month, so Wolf turned in his 30 day notice and said goodbye on Friday.

By the way, Warner lives in Florida
I first saw Warner when he was on the CBS Morning Program in the early ’80s. His enthusiasm and knowledge are unmatched. I’m sorry to hear of his exit, but I don’t think he’ll have a hard time finding work.
That’s a fact. I make a big deal about “people who know stuff” as opposed to people who pretend to know stuff by searching Wikipedia or Google. Jim Rome is the other sports guy who just knows stuff – the list trails off from there.
His contract is over December 3rd and it sounds like there is no non-compete. Getting affiliates for a 6-10 AM syndicated show is hard – that’s bread and butter time for local advertisers. A lot of Imus affiliates are country music and sports stations. Warner seemed to be a big part of the show, including the politics and popular culture stuff. It is going to leave a void.
