Impeachment happens in the House, but removal from office is voted in the Senate, requiring 67 votes.
In theory, impeachment requires a crime, not just a political motive. It’s safe to assume that 48 Democrats would vote to remove Trump. During the election I counted 12 Republican Senators that were explicitly anti Trump. That gives 60. I’m not the only one with the same thought.

Yeah I read the story this morning, the same professor that has guessed the winners in the last few elections. Trump will have to walk on eggshells because nothing would please the establishment that to remove him and allow Pence to step up. According to reports Pence is more malleable than Trump.
Lavrenti Beria said many years ago: “Show me the man and I will show you the crime.” Theoretically, they could easily create a situation where Trump, with his usual devil-may-care flair might step into a trap. The possibility is very real and scary.
The entire concept of the Senate holding a “trial” is very loosey-Goosey. With Bill Clinton, his perjury before a Federal judge and disbarment were irrelevant

Bill Climton could have taken $100 million in bribes from countries that stone gay people to death and it would not matter.
Funny TV mishap when ABC News anchor/Clinton lackey G. Stephanopoulos suggested Trump could be impeached if he were found guilty of fraud over Trump University. Veteran Court TV anchor and lawyer Dan Abrams had to point out to little Georgie that presidents can only be impeached for things they do in office. Steffi changed the subject rather than admit how stupid he is.
That’s a fact, and only crimes involving Federal Law, I’m pretty sure. But that assumes Congress follows the Constitution, which is a novel concept these days.
For the past 90 days, Johnny Brandmeier comes in at #78, trailing 20 positions below Joy Browne, who is dead.
