Remington guns for Black Friday

A reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer is apparently thrilled that Remington Arms has a large supply of guns available for purchase on Black Friday.

Remington Arms used to be based in New York, but moved its headquarters to Madison NC, in Central NC up near the Virginia border.

While Remington did have a manufacturing facility near us in Pineville, that facility was closed and production consolidated in Alabama.

If the reporter looks at the comments on his story, he may learn that Remington’s sales problem is not that “Americans are buying fewer guns”, but that the quality of their guns turned to crap after the company was sold by DuPont and gun owners talk to each other. Remington mostly makes shotguns and rifles for governments, while the growth in gun sales nationally has been in handguns.

Gun sales hit a record high in 2016:

Yes to poor quality. The benchmark in rifles used to be a Remington 700 chambered as you wish. Not so much anymore. As Fred says, gun owners talk and the Remington rifles in demand are those pre-sale of company.

Put my money on Browning or Weatherby.

Well they’re pulling out all the stops for Christmas… an ad flyer for Black Friday had a full page devoted only to Remington shotguns, rifles, pistols, and ammo.

Of course, my eye went to the Marlin 30-30, Ruger 10/22 (nice takedown rifle), and various other brands shown on the opposite page… and Daisy BB gun $28

Very cool! Was it a spring loaded BB Gun? I can’t remember from my youth what drove the BB. I know that the pellet gun I had was a pump: more air, faster pellet.

‘Marlin 30-30’ Classic. You Know, that is something that Remington moved some of their production to Madison NC. Next door just up the road in Mayodan, NC, Sturm, Ruger & Co. ( Ruger). I found on a firearms website, that:
“the building that Ruger will use for its NC manufacturing plant is the old Unifi 15 plant. According to the NC Department of Commerce website listing available industrial sites, the building was built in 1989 and has a total of 221,600 usable square feet of space. It is located at the intersection of Cardwell Road and, Cupcake Trail in Mayodan.”
Mayodan had a large cotton mill next to the N&W line from Roanoke VA, to Winston Salem NC back in the day. Nafta got rid of that. Good ole Governor McCrory persuaded Ruger moving to NC.
He was a good Governor. NC ‘F’ ed up bad not re-electing him. Virginia did the same with our Governor-elect too.

While I’ve had no direct contact, I have heard through a third party that he was devestated by the loss. He did an interview recently where he said his wife won’t even walk on the street with him because of all the abuse he takes. They’ve moved up to a new home somewhere in the mountains.

I hate to hear that. Governor McCrory did a lot of good for NC. Put the state on good fiscal policies. That ole gal that was gov of NC before him, she just about ran the state into the ground.
You know, it always seems the goofball dems doing crap like that. He is not governor anymore, leave him alone. No etiquette, lefties don’t know how to act in general, in society.
Wear the ‘Che’ shirt and you are done. Don’t have to open your mouth. I know what your values and political leanings are from the shirt. You don’t need to yell or take a dump on a police car. But they never get that, they like making ass’es of themselves.
I wouldn’t want to be around them either
