High unemployment is good for Radio!

I doubt Arbitron will conduct the research, but I think it’s pretty safe to conclude that people without jobs listen to more radio than people who work 8 hours a day.

Radio industry people find solace in that the average amount of time people are listening to radio is not dropping.     They probably aren’t factoring in that something like 25 million adults below retirement age are not working.   Those who are not watching TV 14 hours a day are probably listening to a bit more radio than if they had a job.

Let’s lay everyone off, give them infinite unemployment checks and the radio business will be highly stimulated!
