Where in the world is Glenn Beck?

If you missed the Glenn Beck show on Friday, it started with Pat Gray announcing that Glenn was running late…  as the show went on… Glenn would be arriving soon…   any minute now….   Glenn never showed up, and there was no explanation.

It could just have been Pat trying to retain an audience, knowing that Glenn would not be doing the show.   As a radio professional, Pat is highly trained in “teasing” an audience to say something is coming up soon, and dragging it out for three hours.

Assuming something is really going on, I’ll lay out the crumbs that I know about…. maybe you have a few clues as well…

– Before leaving for Israel, Beck made the statement several times that the Restoring Courage rally is going to cost $10 million that he doesn’t have the money, and he is counting on God to solve that problem

– Earlier in the week (Tuesday?) he mentioned things were going, on and he might not be on the show on Thursday, but he wouldn’t know for sure until Thursday.

– Glenn’s rally has picked up opposition within Israel, both from the Arabs in the government and from the leftists (which is a sizable part of the people who live in Israel)

– 7 or 8 people were killed on a bus attack near the border between Gaza and Egypt, and as a result rockets have been flying and Israeli planes have been retalitating

– Thursday, Glenn found out that most of the Congress people (and Joe Lieberman) are backing out of attending, blaming it on John Boehner for not allowing a private group to pay for the trip to Israel on “ethics” grounds.

My two leading theories are that there was a credible threat against Beck and his security people has him in hiding……   my other theory is the government of Israel wants to know why their expense check bounced, and Glenn is calling up God on the phone to get a wire transfer arranged

GBTV will be looping the 2-hour Glenn Show and probably sell (or barter) it to independent TV stations…. he is destine to be the new Herbert W Armstrong except with more pointless hype and hollow teasing. The last big announcement I wasted my time on was a staging change in Isreal. That was his erf shattering announcement. Tedious.

Wow, Herbert W Armstrong – does that bring back a flashback!

I always found Ernest Angely entertaining, but my favorite was Gene Scott.

        +1 on Gene Scott.

Back in my younger college days, some roommates and I got in the habit of watching Gene Scott in the wee hours of the night (after the bars closed). There was an independent TV station in our market that carried his program in the overnight hours.

Gene was wildly entertaining to us. At some point we developed a drinking game built around certain phrases or topics that he would regularly cover. Unfortunately I have forgotten the “rules” of our game or I would share them with you.

I feel certain one had to be connected to him playing that song he used to punish his audience for not giving him money. I was living in Flint Townhip at the time around 1985. At the time he was raising money to buy the old church in downtown LA with the Jesus sign in top. He died a few years ago if you were curious.

Small world — 1985-86 was when I used to watch him as well. I remember those beg-a-thon’s for the restoration.

Apparently his widow continues to operate the network (according to wikipedia).

For those who don’t know, here is a brief introduction

He’s a few years younger here. I think he came on after Tony & Susan Alamo. Now -that- show was just creepy. Tony’s currently in jail for transporting minors across state lines to “marry” old men and have sex with them. Susan is still dead and has not risen from the grave, to the best of my knowledge.

Glenn doesn’t have $10M??? That’s just chump change for him. The problem with Glenn is he has become extremely greedy and when you get to that level no amount of money is sufficient. Think about it, he writes 2 best-selling books a year, has his own publishing company, has “premium” listeners paying just to listen to him, and now the “extreme” viewers. He has more gimmicks to make money than anyone else before, even Herbert.

    • Art Stone says:

He now has about 95 people working for his company – most of them in New York. He’s building a studio in New York, and another location in Texas. He also has no income from Fox News any more. I’m pretty sure his “deal” with Premiere includes a revenue share – that’s one way to inflate numbers in press releases – to estimate the future ad revenue.

The bit about not having the $10 million he blurted out on the air. Was he doing it just to get people to throw more money at him? I just report what he said – you decide. We should get a hint in an hour or so.

Having just been called a “Moron” by Beck and Pat, I have other more important things to do today. No explanation of his absence on Friday

Glenn started the show by announcing he was doing the show “Live from the Nation’s Capital, Jerusalem”. (Odd, I thought it was Washington, DC). Tonight is the kick off of the “Global Movement” we have all been waiting for. John Hagee will be standing at his side, unlike Stu.

    Allah Akbar
