For some reason that isn’t apparent yet, there is a sudden influx of new testers today. This is overwhelming my ability to “spot check” testing and several of the testers are on a terror testing everything in sight doing “fake tests”.
To protect the database, I’m implementing a daily testing limit, which is highly constrained for new unproven testers. Things could break as this is not code that is carefully tested. Deciding how many each person can test in a day is likely to change depending on who is angry and why.
As of this hour, it won’t actually block testing, just count down how many tests you have left for the day.
Just a thought: are you certain these new ‘testers’ are actually humans?
One I suspect may not be – either that or I have some programming issue that I don’t understand yet.
When you do a test from the regular pages (not the volunteer pages), there is a forced delay using javascript before you can declare the test worked. The time limit is backed up by a second test at the server – disabling javascript so you can complete the test early (or scripting it) won’t work. I’m logging the error a lot that someone clicked Yes, I heard…. immediately after starting the test (0 seconds) The result is an error message. A human would not keep doing that over and over.
It has the feel like someone either posted a message at an industry message board, or perhaps an internal message board within Clear Channel – it seems like an influx of people “in the biz”, but it’s still hard to know. The new Clear Channel may be factor also – I improved its ratings which means many clear channel stations are showing up higher in the lists that may not have been tested as much until now.
