While many in the Religious Right have been stoking the fire or war wanting a direct military conflict between Iran and Israel (and/or the United States), events have been spiraling out of control in Syria. Fresh from using NATO’s weapons of peace to restore the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Libya, now that powerful army of peace is turning its attention to Syria.
Perhaps now at long last, Fox News and Sean Hannity will finally get their chance to prove that Saddam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction ™ really are hiding in caves in Syria.
Turkey is a member of NATO but not the EU. Turkey and Egypt (now allies) are making it clear that the non-Muslim Assad government that is a legacy from the Soviet Era must go. Rational people understand that governments are created by God (Allah) and secular Godless governments cannot be permitted.
Unlike Libya, Syria has a large and relatively modern military, and the backing of the Godless countries of Russia and China.
Turkey also has a very large and modern military, backed by the United States of Christians.
Let the peace begin!
After 27 years, I retired from military service. That was some time ago, but it wasn’t during, say, World War I. As a commander (three times), I was required to stay abreast of world threats and potential threats on an on-going basis. I’m a life member of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America), AFA (Air Force Association) and a number of veterans organizations. I continue to read current literature and thinking on a host of topics of interest to military men and women. This by no means makes me or my peers state-of-the-arts experts, but we are interested and informed. I have to say that unless things stunningly changed for Syria over the past ten or fifteen years, then their military forces are rather flaccid in practically all respects. They are not impotent, but neither are they by any stretch a powerhouse. More troubling is the fact that the Russians are floating back into the picture, and they ARE a powerhouse.
I’m not sure taking gratuitous swipes at religious people is becoming or helpful to the point of view presented.
I am.
>”More troubling is the fact that the Russians are floating back into the picture, and they ARE a powerhouse.”
Yes they are, Literally. Supposedly a couple Russian destroyers are floating right off shore in Syria. It was posted over the weekend on a news message board. For some reason the russians like Syria.
I remember a news report back in the late nineties that said to thank the russians for the cheap prices in gasoline. They were selling as much oil as they could cause they needed US dollars back then. I remember filling up my Dodge Ram for the lowest price I ever paid for gas, 95 cents a gallon. Maybe we shouldn’t have done that?
Now with amateur hour in the white house and David Dinkins back as mayor in NY
( in-ept Bloomberg) who knows how this will end. Badly for us, probably.
