I would rate it as proper for the kind of people/audience that are looking for this type of programming. Say, for those people who are unable to travel to services for whatever reason.
Nothing wrong with it, just another type of niche programming (like conservative radio or progressive radio, or hip-hop or cw radio, etc.)
I used to be a newspaper man. No. I mean I actually wrote for a Knight-Ridder newspaper — THAT kind of newspaper man. In my “storied” career, one of the things I learned about the history of newspapers — yes, I know this is about that website … I’m getting there — is that, especially in Britain around the turn of the century, papers were chaotic in layout. Photos and headlines of all sizes and shapes and fonts splashed across the pages, each vying with the others for attention. There were multiple applications of these (!!!!!!!) and these, too (??????), and there were fancy boxes and borders … and, and, well … more. That putative “style” was called “All Attention – No Attention.”
And THAT is what that incredibly garish, lurid, painful to see website is. All attention – no attention. It is to websites what upchuck is to barroom floors. Find the insaniac who did it and get him back on his meds before he harms himself or others.
PS – If you can stand it long enough, find Virgil Beckham, the ReMax realtor. Tell me he’s not Max Headroom. And the State Farm Insurance babe next to him has to be Red Skelton, post lobotomy. Just sayen.
Here is one for a local sports radio station that is almost as funny. I love the daily schedule, I think its updated every few months. I still continue to be amazed that this guy is still in business. He pretty much runs it himself with his wife and kids helping out. Bonus points are for how crazy he is as well…
I would stipulate that my use of CSS is lame. It didn’t really exist when I started doing HTML and I’m kind of “old school” with the idea that it’s the job of the receiving device to handle the layout based on the ability of the device, not the HTML author.
That’s why things often look screwy 🙂 Right now, I’m maybe only using 5% CSS. I’m also really bad about not matching beginning and ending tags, which can cause different results in different browsers. You won’t find an “Certified HTML” logo here ever. I refuse to put ALT= tags on everything and other “do gooder” stuff that made its way into the “rules”
Does anyone remember those neighborhood restaurants that had all the advertising on the paper placemats? That is what the website reminds me of. It looks to be all about the revenue and nothing about the design and look.
This one is annoying for more reasons than the web site. This is the AM station owned by Yale University in New Haven. It’s 1k day/night and a viable signal where I live.
One of the complaints voiced about New Haven (Glenn Beck mentions it every few months) is that Yale owns so much of the real estate in New Haven, involved in things not directly related to its non-profit mission – that the City has very little tax base. The Green in downtown is mostly filled with old churches and surrounded by government buildings..
For a short time maybe 5 years ago, some Conservative Yale students took over the radio station for a couple hours a week, but other than that it just sits there playing computer automation music. The station appears to have no purpose other than to keep the FCC license alive. The FM sister station is LMA’d out to Cox Broadcasting
So effectively the station pays no taxes but is run by Cox and operated commercially 94.3 is not in the Educational part of the FM band, which is why that’s possible
My first computer was an Epson QX-10. It came with two floppy drives, no hard drive (of course) software called “Valdocs,” and a lovely, tiny green screen. The operating system was CP/M and there were no viruses. How’s THAT for old?!
Nah.
😉
What kind of suggestions are you looking for ?

To get the whole effect requires Internet Explorer, which is how I saw it. Firefox shows it more accurately, other than the overlapping text.
Now that I can see the page as more than a big jumble, I see they carry the Overcomner Ministry. Now there is entertainment!

Pretty lame. Obviously an amateur web design job.

Ah-hahaha! ‘nuther good’un, GMB!
What’s scary is both sites are using CSS…

Back around 1995, the “Let’s put everything on one big long page that goes on and on and on” was the state of the art in HTML design.
… and puzzles and games to keep the children busy until their chicken fingers arrive
Yeah 1995. Old Skool ! Running off an old Zenith z-286 with one meg of Ram and a math co-processor.
Bring on the chicken fingers : )
Here is another to ponder about:

I bought the first model TRS-80 from radio shack sight unseen.
TRSDOS was a virus.
This is where it began for me… a TI 99/4A (circa 1981-82) with voice synthesizer and a cassette tape-player interface for loading programs.

Interestingly, it had a 16-bit processor.
