When Fedora did its number of me, when I rebuilt the server it upgraded mySQL to v5.5, which is far ahead of what I had been using. In the rush to get things working, I didn’t correctly configure mySQL, resulting in sluggish performance. Google looks at page load times to decide which is the best site to put at the top of the list. I’ve corrected that, which should make the pages load a lot faster now.
Looks like a seasonal dip from Nov thru Dec, along with Google’s algorithm. Do your weekly stats from other years show a drop in traffic during the holidays?
Not surprisingly, retail sites see an increase in web traffic at this time of year.
A substantial number of people use this web site at work. It’s also true that a lot of people are busy Thanksgiving week. Since that week is still in the “current” period (28 days), that’s part of the explantion.
