One of the big clues to me of what was to come was the account the day the Western Reporters were woken up at 4AM to be bugged out of Ajdabiya as the government troops were approaching. The owners of the hotel were hiding or removing the valuable things before fleeing – not because of fear of the government troops..
With the locals now gone or in hiding, the “Rebels” started spilling into the town, looting everything of value that wasn’t nailed down, helping themselves to whatever food was around and sitting around having parties smoking hashish.
