Meet Anne. She has a vision.
She lives in Greenwood, South Carolina. She had been leasing a radio station in town (WLMA-AM – a station which had its license cancelled in 2004. It looks like WLMA is trying to get back on the air, but proposed an antenna in the glide path of the local airport and had not notified the FAA. Anne was made an offer to buy another station in town in 2010. She could buy WCRS-AM, a 1000 watt Class C radio station in Greenwood (Class C is the weak, small town license type). The station had been silent and the license was about to be revoked by the FCC because the station had been off the air for too long.
Anne agreed put up $50,000 and the WCRS station owner took back a promissory note for $250,000 (per the FCC filings), so now Anne owns a radio station under the name of Anne’s Visionary Entertainment.
Greenwood South Carolina is a small town of about 23,000, located fairly close to the Georgia border.
Somewhat atypically for small town radio, she is posting her radio interviews on Youtube – most have about 10 views. While she is holding a microphone in her hand in the video, it’s clear the video is not using that audio feed, but rather the microphone on the camera across the room, so that’s why it is a little hard to hear.
Enjoy!
