Saif Qadaffi confusion

Muamar has two sons named Saif – Saif “al Arab” and Saif “al Islam”.

The youngest son killed today in his own house was Saif “al Arab”. As I pointed out at the time, when things broke out and Dad sent him to Benghazi to restore order, Saif turned on his father and joined with the rebels. Saif was injured when he was 4 years old during Ronald Reagan’s attempt to kill his father.

Saif “al Arab” was the playboy running around Germany annoying his neighbors with loud parties, but beyond that had not done much with his life.

His older brother Saif “al Islam” is the son who studied at the London school of economics and has been working hard trying to negotiate a way to get Dad to go live in some other place so Saif can continue taking Libya on its path of becoming a normal country friendly to Western interests and improving the living situation of its people.

There is no dancing in the streets tonight in Benghazi. NATO has made its intent clear. This attempt on gadaffi’s life came shortly after his live TV speech again offering a cease fire which NATO rejected (since when is it up to them?). There are suggestions the bombing of the school for down’s syndrome children may have been because that was where Qadaffi was doing the TV talk to his country.

John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio all took to the air today praising NATO for this obvious assassination attempt and urging more of the same.

Saif al Islam Ghadaffi is Libya’s best hope for ending this conflict and is believed to be well liked by both sides. The Libya war is beginning a new chapter. The next 24 hours will be decisive. For now, the US position seems to be to suggest this is all a lie – that the tomahawk missile flown through the wall of Saif al Arab’s home while he was in it and the corpse in the morgue are an elaborate Libyan trick.

If NATO (which has no member nations in Africa) can veto a cease fire, why can’t the African Union accept Qadaffi’s offer?

I just have a hard time believing all this is REAL. this is embarrassing, it’s pitiful, and just plain dangerous. Please somebody can not we find SOMEONE competent to run the show? People are being killed for nothing. Is this really what we have come to??
