Guns and Suicide in the United States

Vice President Biden made one of his little speeches over the weekend about the need for controlling guns, and threw out his “fact” that a huge part of  the time, when a person is hurt by a gun, it is their own gun.

That’s a fact.   What he didn’t explain is that about half of all gun related deaths in the United States each year are suicides.

The availability of guns in the United States results in doing the Vince Foster thing, going to a quiet place, putting the gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger.

The globalists are watching this trend:

and it does raise some interesting questions, and you can’t help notice the huge difference between how men and women end their lives.

The most popular method of suicide in major countries:

You can’t look at the table an not conclude we need a global ban on rope and stepladders and trees.

And how are women in Cuba killing themselves?

I have honestly never understood the anti-suicide crusaders. It is not that I am “pro” suicide — I just don’t understand how society thinks we can prevent someone who wants to kill themselves from doing so. Taken to its logical conclusion we would have to ban all high places and live only in one story structures. Oh and I guess we better get rid of all bodies of water as well since they might drown themselves. Where does the nanny state ridiculousness end?

I searched around and couldn’t find the answer to my question about how and why Cuban women are killing themselves. A number of sources agree that this is centuries old and not related to Castro. The “By Age” charts suggest it is women who are beyond the age where there children are grown and on their own. Another interesting statement was that while typically a suicide has 10 tries before it works, for Communist Party members, they always succeed on the first try.

Another Biden gaff ? Someone must have told Biden that Suicide is Illegal in most states. And if he knew that , Who would he feel needs to be prosecuted ? And how would he prosecute them ? Life in prison without the possibility of parole would be my guess.

I thought about mentioning that, since it comes up a lot.

Making suicide illegal is not about putting the dead person in jail – it’s about putting the people who might have helped in jail. The life insurance industry also has reasons to want government to pressure people to not kill themselves. Life insurance doesn’t cover suicide during the first few years (typically two) since that covers people who have terminal illnesses and people buying life insurance with the intent of killing themselves (or spouses buying it), but after the waiting period, then suicide doesn’t void the policy… and “suicide” is a slippery slope…. Whitney Houston’s autopsy showed active cocaine use and a variety of prescription medications, and she would up face down in a bathtub with her head under water. Suicide or accident?
