ABC News Perspective is one of those dreadful weekend “Week in Review” shows that few people would choose to listen to – back in the 1950s the NAB published a Standards and Practices document that generally required NAB members to air “Public Service” crap to demonstrate their commitment to “operating in the public interest”.
The final minute of Perspective is just bizarre in 2012 – they announced that if you would like a copy of the show (you mean beyond the one on my iPhone?), please send $10 to a PO box in New York City (postal mail? Paper check?) and please wait 4 weeks for delivery. The announcement said nothing about the format – cassette tape? CD? DVD? Reel to reel tape? Edison wax cylinder? My guess is they will send you a printed transcript, but they didn’t even hint at what they send out in the unlikely event someone actually wrote in.
Seriously?
My guess is the purpose is only something done at the request of lawyers to set up a theoretical claim of “damages” should someIne use the material in an unauthorized way..
