The last one out of Greece please turn off the lights

This has been percolating for a few weeks now and time is running out.

Most of Greece’s electric power is generated from imported natural gas and they want to be paid.  Now.

The suppliers who aren’t being paid are from Russia, Turkey and Italy.   Unless they are reselling someone else’s gas, a natural gas company can afford to to allow their customer to be slow pay – as the cost of providing more gas is not high – so long as they believe they’ll be paid eventually.

If Greece walks away from the Euro, companies providing Greece was things like natural gas may face not getting paid – or more likely being paid in near worthless and unusable Greek New Drachmas.

If the natural gas gets turned off, the power goes off.  When the power goes off, civilization falls apart within hours.   This is where reality and theory meet.   The clock is ticking.

I find it incredible that all these Socialists don’t realize what is going on. Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland are all floundering because of unsustainable financial decisions. Then, to boot it all the new prez of France M. Hollande lowers retirement age. Have they all gone crazy????

It’s not a coincidence that the countries that most aggressively plowed money into “green energy” and complying with Kyoto are the ones now bankrupt, having chased their industrial base to China.
