Well, things are working out well, don’t you know.
Saif al-Islam, son of Muamar Qadaffi, is not unpopular in Libya. If he were allowed on a ballot in a truly free election, he likely would win the national election, over the objections of the US backed minority stooge government in Benghazi that wants to restore the British monarchy to run the country and plunder its natural resources..
Saif had been involved in much of the modernization of Libya that was underway following the end of economic sanctions and managing the Libyan sovereign wealth fund which was working hard to insulate itself from the coming collapse of banks in Europe, by doing things like buying large quantities of gold.
Saif is being held in detention in Libya, awaiting “trial” – but more realistically is being held under that pretense to prevent the International Criminal Court (ICC) from dragging him to Europe for a political show trial for his role in Crimes against Humanity (ie – for “forcing” France to destroy the Libyan military and accidentally bombing civilians). The ICC has yet to have a single conviction of anyone for their purported “crimes against humanity”.
So now comes word that New Libya has arrested four members of the ICC “team” sent to Libya to talk to Saif on the charges of “spying”. Detained were the female lawyer from Austria who will be Saif’s defense lawyer and her translator. Saif has a MBA from a University in Austria, and a PhD from the London School of Economics – It’s kind of hard to believe he needs a “translator” – but he probably does need a “minder” to monitor their conversations and make reports. A Russian ambassador and a professor from Spain were also detained and released, but are remaining together as a team in protective detention.
So now the ICC is sending in another team to negotiate the terms of the release of the first team.

More Libya developments. NATO is now demanding that New Libya release the ICC lawyers, “or else”.
Unrelated, the Libyan courts have thrown out a law that prohibited people from talking favorably about Muomar Qhadaphi. Also, serious fighting is breaking out in territory in the West and South that were “Loyalist” hotbeds and very far away from the ability of Benghazi’s puppet government to control without US military and CIA support.
Oh, and elections have been delayed for a month.
And the Supreme Court in Egypt has dissolved Parliament to prevent the elected leaders from the Muslim Brotherhood from taking control of the government. Isn’t “Democracy” wonderful?
Now the UN Security Council is mad at New Libya! Release the ICC lawyers or we get really mad and will pass a Resolution of Disapproval!
Things get really interesting from here.
Do the UN approved “Sanctions” still have legal effect to authorize NATO to destroy the new government they put in power?
If NATO went back to the UN for new authority for “use of force” in Libya, what do the Russians and Chinese do this time?
