Sony has announced that the Play Station Network will be shutdown indefinitely. The cause of the shutdown is currently vague, but generally described as an intrusion that compromised the integrity of the network, including access to developer’s systems. Some fingers are pointing to the folks behind Wikileaks. Sony is not sure yet if credit card data has been stolen.
This network hosts several very popular real time multiuser battle simulations like Call of Duty – Black Ops which have been training 75 million of the world’s angriest young men for several years to become efficient killing machines.
This of course has nothing to do with the real world – it’s only a game.
am i on “the onion”?
Time will tell 😉
snicker, snicker….
The only way that our gamers could be effectivly utilized like this would be to have a massive supply of remote drones. not just predator’s and reapers, but cheap one shot types. I just cannot see that happening for at least another decade. Yes Games will desensitize to all kinds of behaviors but it still takes physical skills on the Real battlefields.( and we are a long way from downloadable skills.)
