In a sign of how effective NATO has been, the UN is demanding a cease fire, so “aid” can get to the “civilians” in the “rebel” city of Misrata/Misuratah.
UN: Cease Fire!
Qadaffi: Bombs away!
UN: Cease Fire, or Else!
Qadaffi: Or else what? You’ll kill me?
UN: No, we’ll accuse you of War Crimes!
Gadhaffi: Bombs Away!
UN: No, Seriously. Stop that!
Ghadaphi: (fingers in ears) Can’t Hear you! la la la
UN: NATO, do something, damn it!
NATO: Like what?
UN: Bomb something – make them stop!
France: Hey, we still have some concrete bombs left
Kadhafi: Open the valves
Spain: What the @&#* ? Where did this oil come from?
Italy: Does that natural gas coming out of the pipeline smell funny to you?
Kadhafi: Bombs away!
US: Now we’re pissed! Send in the Marines…. “from the halls of Montezuma…”
China: I wouldn’t do that if I was you
US: This is none of your damn business
Hillary: Marines – Go!
Putin: Go!
Ukraine: WTF? where did those tanks come from?
US: Superman, save us!
Superman: Sorry, I’m a global citizen now.
The NY Times, in its highly skilled understanding of military tactics is reporting that the Qadaffi troops have been “forced back” from the Western end of Misrata. Troops from Misrate have no more chance of making it to Tripoli than Boston has of winning the world series. Given that Misrata is now in a world of hurt, opening an exit on the siege has one of two obvious purposes… to lure people out of the protection of the buildings in the city to kill them, or to create a huge humanitarian crisis with a couple hundred thousand civilians with no water, no food, no gas for their cars trying to walk a couple hundred miles in the desert to get to Tunisia.
I don’t understand well enough why Misrata is a rebel city – if it is a small portion of the city that supports the rebels or if there is some tribal / ethnic / historical opposition to Tripoli. If the city is fundamentally against Kahdafi, then very bad things are about to happen. If there are people in the city who would go to Tripoli to join with the government, then they might be allowed to leave. Either way, expect the town to be burned to the ground.
Gee, the ‘script’ just isn’t working out as it did in Egypt… uh Tunisia, okay.. Facebook.
Nice job by Obama, the liberal MSM, and their social media inspired activism:
Start a fire, fan the flames with the promise of news coverage; when it gets too hot (Cooper, Amanpour, Logan) run over to Japan for a few weeks, and when things get too ‘radioactive’, run back home and cover for Osama… err Obama. Then roam around tornado alley doing TV interviews using uneducated victims (with thick accents) so as to belittle and disparage fly-over country ‘hicks’. Pump up der fuehrer’s polls with a birth certificate, distract the proles with a ‘royal wedding’ and Anderson Cooper’s views on dresses, and then crown it with a dubious ‘raid’ on OBL’s mansion while giving the public 10 different accounts of the facts… complete with staged photos by the regime. Start a new wave of fear-mongering with terrorist threats to trains and ‘soft targets’. Finally, come full circle and ask the UN to stop the ‘humanitarian’ crisis which you instigated, exploited, and abandoned in the Mideast.
That’s what you do if you’re a professional journalist or a member of the MSM club.
