The Missing 3 Million

“Michael [Medved] invites any of the 3 million who voted for McCain but not Romney to call in”

Rush was struggling with this same issue. It’s the elephant in the room (or not) that the Democrats know and Republicans are in denial over.

They’re dead.

In each class (people born in a year), there are about 3 million Americans. In the last 4 years, about 10 million people have died, the large majority of them old people. For a while, the demographics worked for Republicans as the FDR Democrats reached the end of the line. They’re approaching 100 years old now. The Barry Goldwater generation is now falling over the cliff along with the Richard Nixon generation. People who were in their 40s during Ronald Reagan’s time are now in their 70s.

So you’re probably shouting – But Democrats are dying too! – it should even out – not so. The Republicans are not attracting (or breeding) young people to fill the ranks at the young end of adulthood. In 4 years, another 10 million older people will die, even with Obamacare.

The Progressives have won. They convinced well educated white women that a career was more important than raising a family. Meanwhile, the welfare state subsidized poor uneducated women with free housing, food and a bad education to act as brood mares for the next generation of “born Democrats”. Protestant people with European culture were particularly susceptible to this self extermination through non procreation. This is not a new idea – Pat Buchannon laid it out pretty clearly in his book “The Death of the West”

Republicans will never be this blunt, and there is no solution that will suddenly cause America to turn away from the Democrats and their socialist ideas – other than complete societal collapse and Starting Over – but Democrats control the government and the employees and the guns and the prisons.

This seems to be the best answer for Republicans not voting I’ve heard to date.

Back in the early 1990s, I was a charter subscriber to Insight magazine, the weekly news magazine the Washington Times published to compete with Time and Newsweek. That was where I had read the prediction that the Republicans would have a temporary demographic surge that would give them a chance at controlling the government for generation, and they needed to use that time to change people’s expectations about government, as the demographics would hit in 15 years or so. The Newt Gingrich era came and went and George W Bush squandered the opportunity.

Post menopausal women can’t have children. It takes 19 years to create a new voter. The only way you fundamentally can alter the demographics is allowing immigration of people already alive.

I read Insight magazine and remember those predictions. What I did not fully appreciate was the affect of cultural decay and wave of illegals. The clear fact the Rule of Law has been abandoned and supplanted by Rule by Proclamation means something, something big.

A subtext is that with the declining birth rate, it became apparent that when the Baby Boom started hitting 62/65 (right about now), without immigrants in large numbers, Social Security would rapidly become more insolvent and a net outflow from the stock market as people started living on their savings would create a very unhealthy financial situation. George Bush never stopped believing that the border with Mexico should be wide open.

John McCain caught a lot if flack for saying that Mexicans come over the border because they will do the jobs Americans just won’t do. I believe that’s a fact.

I was an Insight reader and subscriber until they folded. Had some good email correspondence with the former editor Paul Rodriquez. Insight had a good run and uncovered some big stories (the Clinton-China backroom deals being one example).

I miss the days when we had journalism and investigative reporting in the USA.

Makes sense to me. I had assumed the Tea Partiers stayed home.

If unemployment for the under 30’s is 12%, and Romney got just 30% of the under 30’s vote, then another bit of conventional wisdom bites the dust.

      • Art Stone says:

They’re living at home with mom, collecting 99 weeks of unemployment and smoking dope in the basement. Lack of a job is not a problem

Somewhat related, there also now many college kids who apply for and receive food stamps. I haven’t figured out how they get away with it (since they are not heads of households and most are still dependents on their parent’s tax forms), but I do know that it is going on.

          • Art Stone says:

There is no incentive for a government employee to say “no” when someone asks for free stuff – more people on food stamps = more government employees to administer the program.

            Say “yes” to sequestration.

Just wait until the bill on the deficit comes due. These young adults will become conservatives in a flash! I can’t give up hope. I still believe in America.
I have traveled to third world countries and to Europe. People that have lived in this country all their lives are not going to like living in a totally Socialist/Marxist country. There is no middle class in third world countries. There are only rulers and the serfs. The college kids of today will not enjoy being the serfs…
The only hope we have is to take back the education system. That will be difficult but can be done with the right teachers. College Republicans need to go into teaching and start to turn this ship around. There has to be a plan on a grand scale.

      • Nidster says:

Linda, thanks for posting about your experiences in 3rd world countries comprised of rulers and serfs. Sad of course but true.
Your optimism is appreciated regarding the education system, but we are further down the pike than most people realize. The demographics are against us but the effort must be made.

So many of us do believe in America, but when the deficit comes due it will be difficult for us to understand that most young adults are going to blame, and target older people who receive SS payments as being responsible for the deficit. The argument that all Americans were forced into paying into the SS system, which will go bankrupt, has little to no affect on their anger towards older people who are at are near retirement age. Sad of course but true.

Inter generational warfare is coming – count on it. Europe is a bit further down this road in part because of the large number of men who died in WW2 creating a drop in the birth rate.

In 2003, France had a heat wave and 14,000 people (mostly elderly) died. Other than “proof” of Global Warming, there wasn’t a lot of fuss over it. Killing off old people to free up their apartments for Algerian immigrants doesn’t require an action as overt as putting a gun to their head.
