Tom Taylor’s new newsletter reports that Newsmax is putting together a radio (and TV) syndication operation. It sounds like they want to hop on the GBTV type of bandwagon.
24 hour a day conspiracy talk about Obama’s real Birth certificate from Kenya – now there is entertainment!
Here is a hint. President Obama could announce the “real truth” (whatever you think that is) and it wouldn’t matter. The only process for removing a President is impeachment. Republicans not only didn’t win the Only Race That Really Matters(tm), but they actually lost seats in the US Senate. It requires a 2/3 majority (67) to convict. Republicans have 45 seats in the new Senate. Democrats will protect President Obama, unlike Republicans who threw Richard Nixon under the CBS TV bus. There is nothing President Obama could do that would cause 22 Democratic Senators to vote to expel him from office.
Newsmax needs to instead push for Secession – yeah, that’s the ticket. Let’s transform the voting public from 51%/49% to 80/20. Be sure to add in Rape is God’s Will, prayer in public schools and US military intervention in Iran and Syria. Let’s build a wall around Mexico, withdraw from the UN, dissolve the Federal Reserve, ban imports from China and establish the department of Bigfoot Research.
We currently associate the names “progressive”/”liberal”/”leftist” with a religiously (carefully defined) obsessed group and “conservative” with another religiously (carefully defined) obsessed group.
It is reasonable to assume that economics is going to create conditions, in the near future, which will cause these two groups to go to “war” (carefully defined) with each other.
We here tend to associate ourselves more with the word conservative rather than the word progressive/liberal/leftist. Our basis for doing so is intellectual/historical/realistic. I suspect that most conservatives may not be so intellectual/historical/realistic.
They may, if fact, be nearly as much of a mob as the progressive/liberal/leftist mob is, albeit having a different set of beliefs.
I wouldn’t be surprised if GBTV (now named The BlazeTV) (perhaps there is some important symbolism in the name change), and the possible NewsMax network could be appealing to the same demographic. Where there is a need, entrepreneurs will develop businesses that appeal to that need.
While what the conservative mob believes might be closer to the truth than what the progressive/liberal/leftist mob believes, we shouldn’t be surprised to find the conservative mob might also be obsessed with some beliefs that are conspiracy-oriented/superstitious/unworkable.
Based on his final Spreecast video, Steve Malzberg is likely to be joining the new Newsmax Radio operation. He said he would take part in Newsmax’s election night audio coverage (I didn’t verify if that actually happened) and said he would be returning to the Internet with a regular show and that radio stations would be able to pick it up.
That sounds very logical – I remember the “big announcement” then found no follow through. I can see Newsmax as an Internet stream but I don’t see how you sell it to radio stations. I could almost name the stations that would give it a try (probably on very generous terms to the radio station.
I generally like Malzberg, but he failed already in syndication. He is too New York centric for national syndication – especially his focus on Israel and the Middle East. Farmers in Iowa generally don’t care that Hamas and Israel are lobbing missiles again at each other. I only recently found out Malzberg got divorced. As much as he doted on his son, that must be really hard.
The New York metropolitan area and central to south Florida (home to many ex-New Yorkers and New Jerseyans) would seem to be the universe for Malzberg over the air.
Steve has been filling in on several stations this last year, the main ones being WMAL on Saturday afternoon and KTSA for Trey Ware and Sean Rima. The audience seems to really like Steve. He does very well not seeming to be too New York or New Jersey centered. He really fits in really well with the San Antonio listeners. I think there will be several stations that might carry him. I hope so because I really like Steve.
LISTEN TO STEVE TONIGHT 9PM-1AM ET ON WBAP RADIO IN DALLAS. LISTEN LIVE AT http://www.wbap.com
I missed it.
If he hasn’t pinned down a permanent job, he’ll get a lot or work in the next month. He works from a home studio and can do the show for any reasonably current station. Hosts tend to burn through vacation time during the holidays, so people like Malzberg will find a lot of work – and world events help make him topical as well.
