Neal Boortz told the world he is retiring on January 20th when the new President is sworn in. Neal is going to be replaced on Dial Global syndication by Herman Cain, former Pizza executive and Republican Presidential campaign confuser.
So you’re a programming director. Neal is a lame duck, Cain is an unproven commodity in national syndication.
You have the opportunity to sign up Michael Savage, CBS Sports Radio or NBC Sports Radio. You know that with Thanksgiving coming and then “Holiday Season”, this is the last few days we are likely to hear Neal Boortz before he goes on his vacation.
What would you do? It isn’t a hard decision. [Delete]
Everything stays the same and yet – everything is changed. Boortz is a libertarian to be replaced by Herman Cain – a well-meaning, less than perfect businessman. The dialog could be interesting as we watch the United States melt down. Four years more of the insanity that is the Obama administration must mean that He has plans for us beyond our understanding.
I take Cain if I am the PD. There is a potential audience of some size for a Herman Cain – if he speaks clearly and consistently. Let’s avoid Sports (more fodder for division of the species) and let’s avoid the “wunderkind” Savage with the same reheated left-overs.
Holiday season? Which is it – retail-shopping-mas? Return-and-regift-mas? Lord knows I don’t care – I will be in my cave celebrating the birth of the Savior.
Savage has fully regressed. At this point I almost feel sorry for him.
He was back to reading his book again, yelling at the unlit bank of phone calls, mentioned he doesn’t have a single friend, and feels very isolated doing the show from his home. He spent probably an hour of the show looking over the list of affiliates Cumulus gave him – mentioning KSFO at least three times.
A caller from the Bay Area who seems to know Savage pretty well, threw out the name Alan Ginsburg, who Michael “Savage” Weiner described as a Communist and child molester. What Savage didn’t mention is he knew Ginsberg and they were friends at one time. That was before Savage went to work as Timothy Leary’s security guard.
I went through most of the list and only found a couple new affiliates. Most of the stations not owned by Cumulus don’t stream or aren’t yet carrying the show.
Phil Hendrie (on a day old rerun) was reflecting on the progressive talk affiliates folding and how KVI is dropping him to pick up the progressive talk – and slipped in a gratuitous slam against his syndicator (TRN)
I just can’t listen to Savage. He comes on our local station at 8:00 pm central. He replaced Huckabee who replaced Todd Schnitt. Huckabee, now, comes on at 11:00 pm. I go to John Batchelor on the internet at 8:00…
