Clear Channel pushed an iHeartradio update – I don’t know if this is new, but they are promoting a 24 hour news channel. Clear Channel currently has no over the air 24 hrs news stations, so I don’t know the origin of this. By its nature, this is national only news – for many people, that is more useful and interesting than traffiC and weather on the 8s.
So far, it isn’t smarmy like Fox or ABC. It seems like straight news.
It looks like it’s 10 minutes of news looped over and over – some of it entertainment news that is not time sensitive at all
Apparently they had a ‘soft launch’ of this service a while back as a link to it appeared one day on the home screen of the iHeart app on my iPod Touch. When I listened, it sounded very professional but it seemed like there was too much celebrity news.
The only thing America loves more than sports is celebrity gossip!
